Intercultural Exchange

I was thinking, how nice and easy it would be if we could all just understand what a person is saying from their own perspective, rather than parsing their words through our own cultural filter. But in order to do that, we have to know one another’s particular communication style. The reason I stress on culture is because our culture does have a lot of impact on how we relate to those outside–when relating to someone of another culture, we don’t just see that person as an individual if that person makes a mis-step–especially when others we meet behave/talk in the same manner. What are the norms of your culture that may perhaps not be so obvious to Muslims of another culture?
