Enjoy your niqab while you still can

Before it gets banned in a community near you…Many cities and/or countries in Europe are requiring women going to school or even just shopping to go about un-veiled. I understand the whole concept of when in Rome, do as the Romans…but how come when the Romans are not in Rome, they do not do as the non-Romans? I mean, when the British were in India, did they attire themselves in the Nehru coat or the kurta? When they were in Africa, did they clad themselves in skins and furs? I don’t think so…these niqabis are not harming anybody–let them be.

  1. Hipocrasy is at the root of the “problem”.

Do as I say not as I do.” If you as a Muslim are in Rome do as the Roman does however if the westener is in “Rome” he does as he pleases.

If the West wishes to lecture Muslims about human rights and freedom then it should allow a Muslim woman to wear a niqab or a hijab if she so wishes.

It seems to me that hatred for Islam is greater than love for human rights and freedom in the west.

Excellent point: ‘Do as I say, not as I do’ does appear to be the prevailing mindset in certain realms. And the concept of freedom of religion really takes a beating when ignorance rules discussions of Islam. Ironic really, that a cornerstone principle in promoting the idea of freedom is the repression of religious rights, specifically those concerning Islam.
