It Doesn't Matter That Your Brother is Dying

“The example of the believers’ love, affection, and mercy for one another is like that of the body: when one of its organs ails, the rest of the body responds and watches over it by contracting fever.”

(Bukhari and Muslim)

Our brothers are being killed, our sisters are being raped, our children are being orphaned, our ummah is in chaos. Why are the Muslims overlooking the tragedies we are facing again and again? We are turning a blind eye, thinking we are better then those suffering. We hold a high and mighty view, firmly believing that we will never suffer their tragedy. But we are suffering a different tragedy.

We have become deaf, dumb, and blind to cries of this Ummah. We waste money on lavish weddings when simple weddings are more blessed, eating out at places while our brethren starve, and fancy clothes that don’t cover much. I can’t even say emulating the West, because even they care for their own people!

We need to take the suffering of this Ummah seriously, and make a change from within ourselves to make a difference. Today our brother is suffering, Allah forbid tomorrow it will be our turn to face the test. How will we pass the test if we don’t have the Quran and Sunnah in our hearts with sincerity and conviction?
