Sheikh Safi ur-Rahman Mubarakpuri (Rahimahullah)

I read the following on a forum I’m a member of:

The well-known scholar of Hadith and Seerah (biography) of the Prophet, Sheikh Safi ur-Rahman Mubarakpuri passed today in India after the Friday prayer.

The sheikh is well known among English speakers for his book on the seerah of the Prophet, al-Raheeq al-Makhtum (The Sealed Nectar), and the summarized Tafir Ibn Kathir published by Dar us-Salam in 10 volumes. The Sealed Nectar is used as a standard textbook on Seerah in many Islamic universities in the world and is immensely popular among general Muslims.

The sheikh has many other books in Arabic and Urdu including explanation of entire Sahih Muslim.

Sayyidina Abu Huraira (Radiallahu Anhu) has narrated that Sayyidina Rasulullah (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam has said “(Religious) knowledge will be taken away (by the death of religious scholars), ignorance (in religion) and afflictions will appear; and Harj will increase.” It was asked, “What is Harj, O Allah’s Apostle?” He replied by beckoning with his hand indicating “killing.” (Fateh-al-Bari Page 192, Vol. 1)

Inna lillahi wa inna illayhi raji’oun. Nearly a year ago the ummah lost Sheikh Jaabir (Rahimahullah), the former imam of the Masjid al Haram in Makkah. Between then and now we’ve lost numerous other ulama. It is such a tragedy. Alhamdulillah for the work they have left behind which will continue to be a benefit to this Ummah and they will continue to be rewarded for inshaAllah.

May Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) have mercy on him, make his grave spacious for him, and raise him up on the day of Qiyamah amongst the rightly guided ulama and grant him an easy entry to Jannah. Ameen ya Rabb.
