Queenie has decided to torment you all by nominating us for the Thinking Blogger Award. This excites us immensely, since tormenting you with our torturous thoughts helps us resolve a lot of internal conflict. And well, to be honest, its quite a harmless form of torment. After we got over our “awwwwww” and “she thinks we think?!” (ok, who are we kidding…we haven’t gotten over all that yet!), we realized that we get to nominate five other bloggers for this award. Its quite unfortunate that we can’t nominate queenie, but only for the happy reason that she is already a Certified Thinking Blogger! So, onwards to our choice pick of blogs. To be honest, this was quite tough, as any blog on the blogroll is guaranteed to be a good read…but here are the ones that make us think, in no particular order:
Muslim Wife: Always writes so beautifully regarding everyday issues, and always manages to tie it in to deen in a way that displays true depth of feeling and knowledge. I have been missing her blog posts, and am eagerly waiting for her “BBL” period to expire
Mona: I think that Mona expresses what a lot of girls in the Muslim community out West go through. Maintains a balance of Eastern/Arabic culture while integrating Westward, and is not afraid to tell you how she is doing it, by just being herself. And she is rebellious…but really only in a good way.
Simply Faith: She is always unfailingly cheerful, which is such a spirit booster! I still remember her videos at end of her previous school term: “boring, stupid chemistry homework…*sigh*” I think she reminds me of a younger me, but much more expressively!
Umm Layth: Jawharah noticed that I added this blog twice to the blogroll, noting that I must really like it to make a nice boo-boo like that. And its true–I really enjoy how this blog ties in personal issues with the deen.
Arab Lady: This blog will definitely make you think about the cultural elements that are gnawing away at us as Muslims. I remember a time when I would get as outraged as Ms. Arab Lady about these things…and I still do, from time to time. You may not always agree with her…but you just might get to thinking…
Should you choose to participate, please make sure you pass this list of rules to the blogs you are tagging. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think, Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme. Proudly display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award’ with a link to the post that you wrote.
