Waiting for Eid

Twas the second night before Eid.
Many crickets were chirping,
the KitchenAid was diligently mixing
a batch of delectable ma’moul.
One sister was pitting the dates,
mother was supervising the dough,
and another sister was shooing away
the biggest bug of all: brother.
A happy SMS arrived from “back home”
making the ma’moul-molding that much more
pleasant.
Syruping the baklava,
teasing each other,
making mother laugh,
we’re just impatient for Eid!
